How Committed Are You -- Really?
Leadership remains one of the most in-demand commodities in a wide variety of settings, ranging from the business world to the community nonprofit, Capitol Hill, and even the family home. However, one of the most important places where strong leaders are required is the church. God is always searching for those whom he can use as leaders in His kingdom, according to Calvary Houston.
In fact, 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him.” If you are willing to stay faithful to God, He will be faithful to you in giving you opportunities to be used for His kingdom, which may include assuming a leadership position in a church.
An important question to ask yourself is: Am I really willing to be fully committed to God? If your answer to this question is “yes,” God can show Himself strong on your behalf. You simply need to tell God that you are willing to be used by Him, and surrender your heart fully to him -- that means surrendering your feelings, hopes, thought processes, desires, expectations, fears, dreams, and any areas in which you feel you are inadequate. The more surrendered you are to Him, the more He can fill you up -- a broken vessel -- with the power of His Spirit and use you to do things you may have never thought you could achieve, all for His glory.
D.L. Moody, a prominent American evangelist in the 1800s, rose to high levels of success in his ministry after he got down on his knees one day and asked God to make him a man who was totally dedicated to God. Over the course of his life, God was able to use him in a profound way. And He can do the same for you, too.
