Calvary Houston
Calvary Church Houston believes that the church should reach outside its borders to others around them, even to the ends of the world. Through Bible-based teachings, evangelism, discipleship, and worship, the church is willing to help members mature to become empowered believers. When members are rooted in the love of God, they will be able to share his love and his life-changing power to the people around them. In the church, members are willing to take ventures of faith to do things no one is doing and to reach people no one is reaching.
A nondenominational church, Calvary Houston believes in a balance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It values worship and uses contemporary worship songs for their gatherings. The vision of Calvary Houston is to worship the Lord, win the lost, disciple the saints, and send the equipped.
Established in 1991, Calvary Houston Church started as a small home fellowship founded by Pastor Ron Hindt. Born and raised in southern California, he spent several years as a rock musician in the Hollywood/LA area. In 1980, Pastor Ron joined Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa under Pastor Chuck Smith. He later served as an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills, California for several years.
Ever since its early days, the church focused on worship and teaching. The small gathering then grew to serve thousands of members each week. The ministry of Calvary Houston has expanded to include daily radio broadcasts of Pastor Ron’s unique, expositional style of teaching. These half-hour broadcasts known as “Larger Than Life” are aired daily throughout the United States.
In all its pursuits, the mission of Calvary Houston is to connect people to Jesus Christ. The church believes the God’s power can change lives and empower people to truly live according to their purpose.
